JOHN HOLLAND: “Join me in this intimate conversation with author/medium John Holland where he discusses grief from the context of his own bereavement following the loss of his mother, Jenny. John, the author of Born Knowing, Power Of The Soul, and The Spirit Whisperer (among others), talks about why mediums grieve, what people can do to prepare for a loved one’s passing, deathbed visions and shared death experiences, the importance of being present with the dying, caretakers who forget to take care of themselves, reasons why discussing death with loved ones helps both the dying and those left behind, and so much more. This video is for people who are grieving, people who have never lost anyone close to them but will someday, and even those who want to help others in their time of grief.” ~ Bob Olson, Afterlife TV

wow…i had all the same experiances with my Moms passing…i love you and i thabk you
Wonderful Debbie,
I’m glad it resonated with you.
Warmly,
Bob
Thanks for doing this interview. I love John Holland and have listened to his Hay House show for years. I’ve written here before about the signs I received from my mother after she passed. But in listening to John talk about people seeing loved ones from the other side in the room when the person is getting ready to cross over, I remembered that 12 years ago when my father died in hospice, he asked me who the man in the corner was (I could see no one). He also told us that his sisters (who were already deceased) had come into the room. I found this to be very comforting. He also told me that a “lady in white” had come to him a few days before he passed and took him to this “party” where the colors were unlike anything he had seen on this earth and the music was beautiful. He said she told him he would pass on 7/11/99, and he did.
Amazing Kathleen,
Thank you for sharing that with all of us. What a wonderful story. I hope more people become open to these visions that their loved ones are having before their passing. Very comforting.
Warmly,
Bob
What an amazing man John Holland is! What an amazing man YOU are, Bob! I am loving every minute of every interview. You are doing such an important service, Bob. Those of us who have lost loved ones NEED these reassurances. I, for one, am very appreciative. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love, Linda
Hi Linda,
I appreciate your ongoing support. John is a great guy and has been a special friend to me over the years. I knew he’d deliver a powerful interview.
Thanks Linda,
Bob
Dear John, and Bob,
Thank you for this wonderful gift. I too am a psychic medium, (I study with you John!) and my mom passed recently from exact same illness. I was blessed to have a few years of preparation for her passing, (although you’re never REALLY ready)..through lots of talks about it all with her. She would say..”Darling! What are you worried and sad about? You’re a medium! I’ll be talking to you from Heaven!” Then I would explain to her exactly what John is saying here..that I am also a human being saying good bye for now, to my mother, in the physical plane, and I feel grief.
My understanding, (and my mother’s understanding) of the afterlife DOES help tremendously, that is true. I was also blessed to be holding her in my arms as she passed. Beautiful.
Thank you John for sharing your heart warming personal story.
Blessings and love,
Katherine
Thank you Katherine,
I’ll be sure John reads your comments. So true.
Warmly,
Bob
My mom passed a day after John’s mom passed.. What a wonderful interview. Thank you so much for having such a great website. You are truly helping so many people. My best friend sent me a link to your website and I believe there are no coincidences. This was meant to be. Thank you so much.
Hi Dianne,
Yes, I call them divine coincidences or, as many people say, serendipity. So glad you got a lot out of it. Thanks for your thoughtful words.
Warmly,
Bob
This means so much to me. My father and I were very close and when he passed unexpectedly I was devastated. He had been in the shopital for minor surgery and spoke to me of seeing a vision of a “beautiful lady”the day before he passed. When I picked him up the next day to come home he began to cry. When I asked him why he was crying he said that he was just so happy to be “going home”. I feel that whoever came to him in the vsion had told him that he was going to pass the next day. When we returned home I dropped him and my mother at their house and went home to my own house about fifteen minutes away. As I started out the door it seemed as if I hit a brick wall and I stopped and told him, “Dad, I love you” He passed away before I could get to my home. After about three months i was grieving so deeply that he came to me on morning early and sat on the side of my bed and let me know that he was ok. Do you feel that we may be sould mates? After he came to me I was able to let him go and although I still felt grief, I was about to move on.
Hi Sherry,
That’s quite a story. Thanks for sharing it. What incredible gifts that a) your father was given in seeing the “beautiful lady” and b) you were given in being visited by your dad one morning after his passing. Do I think he was your soul mate? I personally believe more in soul groups, meaning everyone in that group is a soul mate of sorts. So, yes, I believe that it’s likely your father is part of your soul group in that way. There’s no doubt that you two share a special bond. I’m happy to hear that you are no longer in deep despair and are living your life while still missing him. That’s a wonderfully healthy place to be. Thanks again for your comment.
Warmly,
Bob
Very timely and helpful interview, since I have lost a number of people in my life in the past year. Thanks Bob.
Hi Labelle,
It’s so difficult to lose one person, never mind a number of people in one year. You know my heart goes out to you. I’m pleased to hear that the interview with John was helpful. You are very kind to comment again.
Warmly,
Bob
John and Bob;
Great interview! You both have given so much to us. Keep up the good work!
Janie.
Thanks Janie,
You’re sweet to write that. I’m grateful and will make sure that John gets the message too.
Warmly,
Bob
Hi Bob, The interview with John was wonderful. My partner of 18 yrs died of EOPD. Last January and I was at her bed side every day. John is one of my favorite mediums. I also been studing about the After Life for about 12 yrs after the death of my Dad. I’ve had many nice experiences. Love Your website will be here often.
Hi Pat,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Lots of serendipitous comparisons you have between John’s story and my own investigation. Glad you’ve joined us. Thank you.
Warmly,
Bob
Finally I got a chance to watch this interview with John Holland! Wow…. I am a nurse in a large hospital and my unit cares for folks who have had lung and heart surgery for the most part. Recently we had a young woman with severe infection on her heart valves (she was 35) and it was not possible to operate. She was deemed terminal and she made herself a DNR. Well, the unit and her family threw her a birthday party and she passed the very next day! So, yes, we do choose when to go. John’s interview about his mother’s passing is so incredible and I am going to check out the book about crowded rooms! And yes, places are “haunted”. I have heard screams in the hallway and no one was there but 2 women in a room said it had been happening every day at that same time. Make of it what you will. I know what I believe. And thanks again Bob for a wonderful, informative & comforting interview. You do fantastic work and I so appreciate it!
You’re most welcome, Joanne,
It thrills me to know that people like you (who are working side by side with those who are having these experiences) are becoming educated by these videos. Great story that you told. Thank you.
Warmly,
Bob
Hi Bob and John thank you for the interview. It was interesting from a mediums point of view what happens.
My grandmother died of bowel cancer 10 years ago, and seemed to in a semi concious state for about five days. She didn’t believe in the afterlife, and seemed to be holding on afraid to die. So, when I had some time on my own with her, I held her hand and put to her that my Mum and Dad would be there waiting for her. Trying to put her mind at rest about that, and then tell her it was ok to go. My Aunty (her primary caregiver) would understand and it would be ok to go. I spoke to her about that for about 5 – 10 minutes. My Aunty went to visit her later that night. It was on her way home, she had the call my grandmother had passed.
Thank you again
It was the first time on your website and I will be back, and for interviewing John as he is one of my favorite mediums to listen to over the last 5 years
Morweena
Hi Morweena,
You’re most welcome. I’m happy to learn that you liked the interview with John. I’ll bet you’ll enjoy some of the 4 interviews I’ve done with James Van Praagh, as well. If you get a chance, check those out at http://www.afterlifetv.com/tag/james-van-praagh
That’s quite a story about your grandmother. Thanks for sharing it. And thanks for your comment.
Warmly,
Bob
Hi, Bob,
I really enjoyed the video and reading these comments. A friend of mine told me this story and although I believe all the commenters on here, until someone actually tells it to you face to face, you are always going to be slightly doubtful, I suppose. It’s human nature. (hope I haven’t already told you this, apologies if I have.
The mother of my friend, an old lady suffering from a chest complaint was admitted into hospital for treatment (her condition wasn’t considered life threatening but she was rather depressed) . After about a week she deteriorated and her condition became more serious until she slipped into a coma. She came out of that after approx three days and her mood was elevated.
Her daughter was with her (summoned by the nurses) and was surprised by the change in her mother. She was also upset by what her mother was about to tell her.
She told her daughter that she had seen Harry (her deceased husband) and wanted to go. The daughter said to her…”Go where? You can’t leave us, you’re going to get better and go home!”
She explained to her daughter what she had seen and was adamant that she wanted to go, reassuring her that …” You’re all alright now, you’re grown up, you don’t need me and you’ll be fine.”
She died a couple of days later.
The person (daughter) that told me this is entirely honest and it was confirmed by her husband that she said these things. Neither of them are religious. I can’t remember why she told me the story but those are the facts. I did think it was curious that someone would actually want to ‘die’ and leave their family like that. They are a very close knit family and her daughter and grandchildren had previously been everything to her.
I have to keep reminding myself that my friend actually told me this she thought it was so bizarre.

Hi Tim,
That’s a very special story. You are lucky that the daughter shared that with you, especially since she’s such a reliable source.
My investigation into the afterlife has shown me that many people who have these near-death experiences either want to go back (to the spirit world) or look forward to their return there. It’s a comforting phenomena, isn’t it? It’s also possible that your friends mother saw a higher perspective while in the other realm, one that gave her peace knowing that her loved ones here would be okay. With that reassurance, it might just be that she felt comfortable leaving them behind in order to go back to our true home. It seems that way from your story.
If you haven’t seen it, you should watch the interview I did with another woman who had such an experience during a coma. She decided to stick around on the physical plane, but she did say that she now has no fear of dying. It’s quite a remarkable interview. Check it out here: http://www.afterlifetv.com/?p=490
Thanks for your comment Tim.
Warmly,
Bob
Thanks very much for the reply, Bob,
The impression I got from the daughter was that this vision was of such divine beauty that it made living here (on earth) seem down right dull (if that’s makes any sense) . I find it very evidential that she wanted to GO (die) Stories like these don’t auger well for materialists, I guess 🙂
I’ll check out the video tomorrow, many thanks for that. Best wishes.
Hi, Bob,
Yes I was very impressed with the interview with Anitta Moorjani. I am familiar with the case which is remarkable to say the least. Thanks for that.
I just looked at the six minute clip of Coral Polge. I am astonished by the likeness of the drawings she was able to make but keeping a healthy scepticism about it….do you know if there is any information on the times she didn’t get it right ? I can’t imagine there was any trickery involved here, she’s just too sincere. Maybe Rita would have some comment on this…does ‘she’ always get it right ? Of course, correct 50 % of the time would be some achievment. This whole concept of drawing spirit faces is so bizarre but so interesting. Best wishes.
Hi Tim,
Spirit artists don’t always get it 100 percent right. But they usually get enough right to identify the person they’ve connected with mediumistically. It really depends on what criteria you put on the drawing. I place the same criteria on a drawing that I would if they were to draw a living person while looking at them. Even when an artist is looking at the person, they don’t always draw an exact likeness. But they do draw certain characteristics (nose, mouth, hair, eyes, glasses, chin, head shape, etc.) so that we know the person who is drawn. If a medium can draw a portrait of someone they’ve never seen–but are seeing via mediumship–and get the likeness enough to identify that person, that’s really amazing.
Warmly,
Bob
Yes what you do has made a difference… I know that my deceased brother still alive somewhere and that I will see him again.
Hi Alina,
That’s wonderful. Thanks for your comment.
Warmly,
Bob
