Season Two has officially begun! Our first guest talks about out of body experiences.
GRAHAM NICHOLLS: Graham Nicholls believes that everyone has the potential to have an out of body experience (OBE). In fact, he offers private sessions to help people make that happen. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience (and hundreds of personal OBEs), Graham shares with us what it’s like to leave our bodies by extending our consciousness. Graham had his first OBE at the age of 12 (unintentionally), and then learned how to induce intentional OBEs about a year later. In this video conversation, Graham Nicholls describes what it’s like to leave our bodies, how we can diminish our fear around OBEs, what it’s like to interconnect with plants and animals, and why OBEs are significant in our investigation into the afterlife.

GRAHAM NICHOLLS BIOGRAPHY
Graham Nicholls is an English author, artist and expert on out of body experiences (OBEs). His exploration of these areas began when he was a twelve-year-old boy after having a series of fleeting experiences of floating a few feet above the ground. Around a year later he heard the term ‘out of body experience’ for the first time, and this led him to buy a scientific book on the subject. Graham committed to practicing the basic steps outlined in that book for inducing an OBE. And after six months of daily practice, Graham intentionally left his body for the first time.
Shortly after, as a part of his growing interest in spirituality, he became vegetarian, having already committed himself to abstain from tobacco, alcohol and recreational drugs at the age of just ten years old. A few years later he traveled to India for the first time and explored the practice of yoga and came into contact with Jainism, which with its focus on non-violence left a lasting impression on him.
Due to his growing awareness of science and technology, Graham also began working with areas that examine psychical experience in an objective and rational way. This led him to become a member of the Society for Psychical Research and to correspond with Dean Radin, Tom Campbell, Dr. Peter Fenwick, Dr. Jeffery Long and others. He has also organized and conducted a series of telepathy experiments with author and biologist Rupert Sheldrake.
In 2010 Graham Nicholls completed work on his first book, Avenues of the Human Spirit, a compelling true account of his hundreds of out of body experiences and the spiritual insights they’ve revealed. Within a month of signing a publishing deal on that first book, he was commissioned by Llewellyn to write his second book, Navigating the Out of Body Experience: Radical New Techniques, which was published in April 2012.

As always, Bob, you have chosen yet another amazing human to interview. Thank you for this. I love the work that you are doing and am excited for yet another mind-tripping season with you! Thanks!!!!
Hi Linda,
Nice to hear from you again. I’m excited too. So thank you for your comments.
Warmly,
Bob
Great start to Season Two of Afterlife TV 🙂 Another amazing interview and guest Bob! Graham’s OBE experiences and insights really do give a lot of credence to what so many others have said – we are all interconnected on so many levels. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Graham recount some of his OBE experiences and look forward to reading his new book. Thanks again!
Hi Michelle,
Thank you! I know you’ll like his book. And you hit the nail on the head regarding the big lesson from OBEs — the interconnectedness of all living beings. I’m glad that came through. Thanks for watching again and your comment.
Warmly,
Bob
I started having OBE’s in my mid-thirties (I am now 69). Always at night and the first time there were “hands” helping me. I haven’t had many in the recent years, but occasionally will “wake up” in a dream and realize I am out-of-body. They are preceded by “vibrations”; sometimes I traveled through a “tunnel”, and always time seemed to be compressed. Thanks for the interview, Bob .
Hi Judy,
That’s very cool, and inspiring. I have to begin giving this a try myself. I know that vibration feeling from experiencing past-life regressions; I feel it once I’m in the proper relaxed state. I’ll bet you’ve had some really interesting experiences. Thanks for sharing.
Warmly,
Bob
Yay, season two!
I was just talking to my daughter’s friend on Monday about this very thing, and now here it is. She has these experiences where she is sleeping and she wakes up scared and is unable to move or speak. She hears loud noises like a train, and she says if she opens her eyes she sees frightening images. I told her she may be experiencing astral travel…or OBE. I am not sure why she is so frightened by it and sees creepy images. I suggested she find some books to read on the subject to help her not be afraid. I told her that people try to have these experiences, and she can’t understand why anyone would want to have this happen. Hopefully reading about the subject will help her?
I love how the whole inner-connectiveness of everything and everyone comes through so often…it’s so awesome to think about ; )
Thanks for the interview and now to read his books!
Hey Sharon,
What incredible serendipity. I hope this video and Graham’s book, if you choose to get it, helps your daughter to embrace these experiences and perhaps enjoy them some day. Very cool story. Thanks.
Warmly,
Bob
im no expert but tell her astral travel can be a wonderful thing. it took me a while to get over my fears. tell her the reason why its a negative experience for her is her fear of it. the mind is a powerful and amazing thing. actually i should say consciousness not the physical brain per say. if she is in a state of negative or fear then she will have a negative experience. if she’s in a positive mind state she will see the opposite. becasue she doesnt understand it, naturally we fear what we dont understand. tell her to do some research, this site and videos/books are good. so are books by robert monroe and the afterlife books/ journey of soul books by michael newton. once she has more light shed on the subject she will see that her experiences may take a positive note and she can actually control it. about the waking up and not being able to move. thats sleep paralysis. alot of people that experience OBE’s go through it. thats part of why she can have these experiences. but sleep paralysis all it is, is your mind wakes up before your body does. for example if you dream your running, as a defense mechanism your brain sort of ‘disconnects’ from the body/functions so that you dont start running in your sleep or fall of the bed or who knows what. most of us wake up and our body is able to move, but those of us that can wake up in dreams (lucid dreams or out of body experiences) sometimes wake up before our consciousness/brain has ‘connected’ again to the body. i hope i make itleast some sense here. but main thing is to do some research. be a light onto the darkness and curse it not! knowledge is power! happy travels 😉
Bob, I sure have missed you in the time between last season and this new season! And again, wonderful interview. I can speak from experience about OOB experiences. I have had several and plan on writing about them. The two most profound were : one was visiting people who I did not think I knew but they knew me and were very happy that I had the experience like they were congratulating me and these people were on the other side I felt. The other was visiting a deer immediately after he had been shot and was not dead yet but was dying and had confirmation about that deer the next day. But anyway, thank you so very much! What Graham said was so spot on with my experiences- feeling the instinct with the animals and so much more. Keep up the good work for all of us and actually for all mankind who will one day be ready to hear. Janie.
Thanks Janie,
Nice to hear from you again. I’m so happy to be back doing this again. I love the experiences you’ve described. They are very much like what Graham illustrated. Your story about the deer reminds me of the movie Powder where the boy touched the deer (who had just been shot) and then touched the hunter, making the hunter experience what the deer was going through. In that movie, the hunter never hunted again. While that was just a movie, it seems spot on to what you and Graham have felt. We have so much to learn as humans. Thanks again Janie for your comment.
Warmly,
Bob
Really good questions, Bob. I learned a lot.
Hi Elisa,
Thank you. Graham truly would be good for a 2-hour interview, so I chose to ask the questions that he hasn’t answered elsewhere and those that most interested me (what’s it like to be out of body?). I’m glad you learned from it.
Warmly,
Bob
