DR. ALLAN BOTKIN: “Afterlife TV is back with a great one. Just when I begin to wonder if I’ve seen it all, something like this comes along to get me excited again. Dr. Allan Botkin has discovered a new way to communicate with our loved ones in spirit. He calls it Induced After Death Communication (IADC) and the experience allows people to communicate directly with people in spirit, ask them questions, and even feel their hugs. Al Botkin has already proven that IADCs are a beneficial therapy technique for grief and trauma. And I believe Al Botkin or someone else will discover new and amazing uses and benefits to this IADC method of spirit contact well beyond what we can even imagine thus far.” ~ Bob Olson, Afterlife TV
Dr. Allan Botkin discusses the new therapy he discovered for grief and
trauma that he calls Induced After Death Communication (IADC).

Induced After Death Communication (IADC) is a therapy for grief and trauma that has helped thousands of people come to terms with their loss by allowing them the experience of private communication with their departed loved ones. This is the definitive book on the subject.
Botkin, a clinical psychologist, created the therapy while counseling Vietnam veterans in his work at a Chicago area VA hospital. Botkin recounts his initial–accidental–discovery of IADC during therapy sessions with Sam, a Vietnam vet haunted by the memory of a Vietnamese girl he couldn’t save. During the session, quite unexpectedly, Sam saw a vision of the girl’s spirit, who told him everything was okay; she was at peace now. This single moment surpassed months–years–of therapy, and allowed Sam to reconnect with his family.
Since that 1995 discovery, Botkin has used IADC to successfully treat countless patients–the book includes dozens of case examples–and has taught the procedure to therapists around the country. For more info: www.induced-adc.com.
Dr. Allan Botkin’s Bio: Allan L. Botkin, PsyD, received his Doctor of Psychology degree from Baylor University in 1983. For the next twenty years he worked in private practice and as a staff psychologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Chicago area. He is currently the director of The Center for Grief and Traumatic Loss, LLC in Libertyville, Illinois.

Thanks Jan,
Nice to hear from you again. Happy to hear that you liked it. The book if filled with fascinating stories.
Warmly,

I haven’t even listened to it yet, but have known about (and promoted) IADCs for the grieving for several years already. I’d wanted one done for myself, too, but unfortunately very few therapists in Canada have been trained in it as yet. When I first discovered it online, I found only one in each of 2 provinces, but ended up not being able to fly out to avail myself of this exciting method, as the “intro” to it would have meant staying over for a few DAYS before the actual IADC session. She did mention that her success rate for this hovered around the 80+% range, but that would have meant quite the financial output w/o any guaranteed connection to make it worth the outlay. If only there had been someone local…
So I wish I’d known beforehand that you’d be interviewing Dr. Botkin, as I would have requested you ask him to try to ‘recruit’ more Cdn. therapists into his training! 😉 It just sounds like a fabulous option to pursue when one absolutely NEEDS to connect in a deep and more tangible way with one’s loved one(s).
PS. I always feel, Bob, like you’ve been taking almost the same path as I have all these years, and now I finally have an outlet where much of all this related information is coalesced. Yay!!!
Hi Debra,
I just checked and see only one person right now listed; she’s from Quebec. Thanks for sharing your story. It’s nice to see that this interview touched an interest you already had.
Warmly,
Bob

Hi Bob
I am a CBT therapist in the UK some of my patients suffer from PTSD and Dr Botkin is correct in saying you witness great mental distress of such people. It’s important that the therapist has the correct training in order that they look after their own mental health as hearing some of the data can actually trauma a therapist.
It’s fascinating to me that he has incorporated this technique into his therapy. I have learnt a lot from this new video.
In general, I have to say that your programmes are so insightful and have lead me to explore areas that I have never though to examine. I believe it’s changing my consciousness on a deep level.
Thank you so much Bob you and your work has made an impact on me and this benefits all the patients that I work with. Kat.
Hi Kat,
Thanks for your comment. I like hearing how my work has affected people in their life and work. Your situation is especially interesting in reference to this interview. Best wishes to you.

Greetings from England where i watched this astonishing interview. what an informative lucid compassionate clearthinking man allan botkin is.
i have one question; i would very much like to have an IACD and i see from the website that he is recommending that we wait a year after the loss before undergoing it
i wonder why this is?
i lost my husband four months ago and am finding it very hard.
thank you for all the fascinating work you are doing
sandy
Hi Sandy,
First, I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t know Al’s reasoning behind the wait, but I would guess that it has something to do with one’s ability to manage the sadness felt during the sessions. Certainly the closer you are to the passing, that sadness might still be very raw. But I would email Dr. Al about your question via his website. Different therapists might have different thoughts about this as well, so you might find one who doesn’t require the wait. If you have someone who is local to you (you can find out on Al’s site), you can inquire. But I’m sure there’s a good reason behind it, and I’m sure it’s for your best advantage. Still, people manage grief differently, so you might be the exception to the rule. I would email Dr. Al. Thanks for watching.

Bob

Bob my daughter sent me a video on DMT. Do you know about all that ? We are doing everything we can do talk to our son ( in the spirit world ). Seen a medium last month . It was 2 months then but my son came through. The medium was good . Told us things no one would of known
I should get my book on IADC tomorrow i ordered it. But what about this DMT?
Hi again Pamela,
That’s good news about your session with the medium. I’m happy to hear that you connected with your son. I’m no expert on DMT. My investigations have provided me enough evidence to know that there’s a lot of evidence that DMT can’t account for when comparing DMT experiences to non-induced NDEs and ADCs. Can DMT trigger experiences that actually are legitimate spiritual experiences? I guess you could ask the same question regarding LSD. For me, that possibility needs more research. I think we’ll discover new and exciting ways to tap into our subconscious connection with the spiritual realm as time goes on (IADCs are one example), and maybe DMT holds some potential in this way. I personally am in a “wait and see” perspective regarding this subject.
Warmly,
Bob

Oh dear, yes, I’ve had a peek too now, and no longer even see listed the 2 therapists who I’d originally been talking to in Canada. What a disappointment, as Quebec is even further from where I’m located. 🙁 I wish this process could be done by phone, too!
I’ve since listened to this interview, and also loved it! What I like MOST about IADCs is that you CAN connect with a specific loved one (including your “fur children” in spirit)…akin to how Animal Communicators work, too, versus Mediums. This is what *I* was promoting Dr. Botkins’ method for, since we know that guilty feelings often run rampant regarding “pet loss,” and being a disenfranchised loss in society to boot, grieving animal parents need all the help they can possibly find.
And the newer info and possibility of connecting with those still on this earthly plane is also wonderful news! I hope Dr. Botkin pursues that end more as well, since the applications could be hugely important and incredibly useful as agents of positive change in so MANY areas. I’m impatient for it ALL! 😉
Hi Debra,
I agree. Everything happens in its proper time, so all that you hope for will develop perfectly. Thanks again.
Warmly,
Bob

This was just an amazing video. My mind is swimming with possibilities. Maybe I should read the book before asking this question, but I wondered if the IADC therapy is ever used on people with other mental issues besides PTSD or grieving? You both were mentioning the feelings of psychopaths in life reviews and it got me thinking that maybe there was some possibility for healing for psychopaths or sociopaths using this method. It’s so beautiful in its simplicity and it’s effectiveness with PTSD, it would be so amazing if it could be used for a wide array of mental issues.
Hi Shannon,
That’s a great question, but one you’ll probably need to email Dr. Al about. The book did not mention it as far as I recall. I agree, however, that this opens up a lot of new possibilities. More tests need to be done on its effectiveness on other illnesses and conditions. Thanks Shannon.

Dear Bob,
I am so looking f forward to reading your book on the afterlife. All in due time I guess. The loss of my mother this past May and it weighs heavily on my mind. All these feelings keep spinning round and round. I get some books on grieving from our library but they don’t have that much and I need so much more. I listen to your interviews and need so much to read your book. I hope this comes one day soon. Thank you.
Hi Carol,
Sorry for your loss. I hope you get the answers you need. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Bob!
My husband is a real skeptic when it comes to the after life. I have always believed in it and I could honestly say that I KNOW that we do live on once we leave our body.
I asked my husband to watch this interview with Dr Botkin and I didn’t think he would, but he did. Once the interview was over he said that he wanted me to order his book but I already had it on order. Once I finished reading it I lent it to him and I’ve got to say for the first time, he finally showed some interest in all of this. He is amazed and still is a bit bewildered by it all. He hasn’t come to admit fully that he believes in spirits, etc but I think he has taken a step in that direction. That’s how powerful your interview and the book has on some people. All I could say is thank you 🙂
Hi Stefania,
That’s a great story. Thanks for yet another comment. I’m happy to learn the show has this effect on people.

Bob,
Thank you so much for your website and all of your information. I absolutely love it! I had never heard of IADC’s and I am a trained EMDR therapist on the East Coast. As I was reading the transcript, I was already thinking of a few clients that could absolutely benefit from this experience. I am eager to check out Dr. Botkin’s book and website. How fabulous! Thank you so much!
Hi Jan,
I’m happy to learn that you discovered Al’s technique here on Afterlife TV. That’s what I love about my work–there’s always something new to discover. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Bob,
Just had a chance to watch this interview with a colleague…we are both EMDR trained clinicians and are fascinated with Dr. Botkin’s use of it and IADC’s. Thanks for making it available…I’m ordering the book and thinking about my caseload, and who I can help with this method.
Thanks again!
Hi Elaine,
Well that’s exciting to me that you saw the interview and might now be able to utilize this for your patients. I talked with another person recently who says she allows her clients to sit for ten to twenty minutes sometimes after the final eye movement, and she thinks that really helps with this IADC method. And if you’re interested, Al offers training too.

Bob
