Yes, our deceased loved ones do watch over us from the spirit world. It’s a tricky phenomenon to explain because, once again, there is no time or distance in the spiritual realm. But suffice it to say that our loved ones know everything we are doing.
Does that mean they are following us around everywhere? No, not exactly. They don’t need to stalk us. Since time and distance don’t exist where they are, they merely need to check in on us to see what we’ve been doing. Think of it like they have a DVR (like a TiVo) and all they have to do is check the Recorded menu to watch our most recent events. In reality, it’s even better than a DVR because all they have to do is think of us to instantly download all our most recent happenings, kind of like movies on demand.
It’s very common in a reading with a psychic medium that the sitter’s loved ones in spirit convey to the psychic medium what the sitter has been up to recently—what they’ve been doing, saying and even thinking. These are events that the psychic medium in most cases could never know. The spirit might mention that she saw her husband visiting her gravesite, was present during his birthday party, and is aware of his recent promotion. And the specifics of what they witnessed during such events can be quite detailed, such as knowing that he brought a bottle of champagne to the cemetery in order to toast their wedding anniversary. These types of messages from a medium is strong evidence to show that our loved ones in spirit are with us and aware of what’s going on in our lives.
But you needn’t worry that our loved ones in spirit are focusing too much on our lives and not enough on their own spiritual lives. Spiritual beings are able to do more than one thing at a time, which leads into the next question.
How can my loved one watch over me and my sister at the same time?
There’s a fantastic movie on near-death experience (NDE) by Dr. Raymond Moody titled Life After Life. In this movie, a woman talks about her NDE saying that, while she watched her body laying dead in the operating room of the hospital and heard everything the doctors were saying while trying to revive her, she was simultaneously able see and hear her brother-in-law in the hallway talking on the phone, while at the same time see her sister in different state of the country searching for her keys in order to go to the store, while at the same time was outside the hospital where she could see a red sneaker sitting on the window sill of one of the hospital rooms located several stories above the ground.
Later, after the woman was resuscitated and she recovered from her temporary death, everything this woman heard and saw was verified as true—right up to what the doctors said in the operating room and what her brother-in-law said on the phone in the hallway. It’s a fascinating yet typical account of what is possible when we leave our physical bodies and enter the spiritual state. And it’s evidence that spirits can be in several places at the same time.
People in spirit are not limited by distance or time. So your loved ones are fully able to be with you in the United States and your sibling in England at the exact same moment. And this is true no matter how many people are involved. As I indicated earlier when answering the question about what sprits wear and eat in the spirit world, my wife, Melissa, and I each had separate readings one day at the exact same time but with different mediums, and my father came through in both our readings. This was early in my investigation of the afterlife, so you can imagine my surprise. But I was glad it happened, because it taught me early on that spirits are not limited by time and distance.
