With so many religions teaching conflicting dogma, it’s impossible for them all to be correct. So the real question within this question is “What happens to people in the afterlife if their religious beliefs about life after death are wrong?
On the surface, nothing happens except that you might be surprised when you get there that your beliefs about the afterlife were so considerably mistaken. But it will require very little to overcome your erroneous beliefs, little more than a quick shake of your ethereal head. Since you were fully aware of the realities of the spirit world before you were born into this life, it’s not like this is new information to you. You merely need to become reacquainted with it. It’s as simple as reconnecting with a forgotten memory, which is easy to do once you’re no longer affected by your physical, human body.
So the next question that arises in regards to this is: “Will people whose religious beliefs are wrong be punished or banished in the afterlife?” And the answer is: No, of course not. Unless you acted upon religious beliefs that led you to harm others, your religious beliefs were merely your experience as a human being. Our conscious memories of the spirit world have been erased for a reason. It’s part of the challenge of being human, getting through life without a manual on how to do it and what to believe. We’re certainly not punished for coming to the wrong conclusions or trusting in the wrong spiritual beliefs. That would be like setting ourselves up for failure, and that’s not the point of our human lives.
It’s important to remember that we chose to be here. As spiritual beings, we made the choice to have another human life. We certainly wouldn’t set ourselves up for failure knowing we might be punished when we returned if we didn’t choose the right religion to follow, if there were such a thing.
All evidence indicates that we pre-chart our lives before we are born, so we already know what our religion is going to be before we enter this life. Just like we know who our parents, siblings and friends are going to be, we know what religion we’ll learn as children. Our own free will allows us to choose our religion as we grow into adulthood, but it is our childhood religion that helps set the stage for how we think and act, which in turn makes us who we are. And this is all part of our human journey. In other words, there is no right or wrong in terms of our human religion once we’ve crossed over to the spirit world. It’s just part of our experience here on the physical plane.
